Time To De-Winterize Your Hot Tub!
Share
If you're reading this, then the snow has fnally started melted, the birds are back to singing their songs, and you're ready to start relaxing in your hot tub again.

In order to start undoing all our hard work from the autumn, you just have to follow this short checklist.
Refresh filters
Depending on your chosen method, cleaning your filters can take 30 minutes to a couple hours, so starting them before the rest of the hot tub is a good idea. Get your filters rinsed off and soaking in your preferred filter cleaner while you set up the rest of the tub.
Inspect inside tub for any water
You want to make sure that no rain water or snow melt got in during the time your tub was closed off. If it did, it could mean your cover isn't sealing properly and if enough got in and froze during winter, you might have some cracks in the plumbing.
Check drain is closed
The bottom drain spout for emptying the entire tub, make sure its shut tight for the next step.
Fill spa about 1/2 way, and then drain
This is to get rid of the anti freeze coating throughout the plumbing. Once its partially full run the pumps for a couple minutes to flush it out. You don't want to soak in that - ew. This is also a good time to check if there's any leaks.
Wipe down/clean acrylic shell
There might be some marks left from the anti freeze, or dust, just from leaving it alone for so long, especially if this is an outside tub. Clean it out with some vinegar water(or a diluted dishsoap mixture) like you normally would between water changes. A clean hot tub seat is a relaxing one!
Refill like normal, balance chemcials, and good to go!
Now you can fill it up, get it up to temp, put in your sanitizers and other chems. Balance your water chemistry like you would normally when refilling your hot tub, and you're all set.
* Hot Tip: Fill your tub through the filter well, to make sure there's no airlocks in the jet lines! *
